Norms and standards relating to the production of stainless steel pipes.
Heavy industry can produce a wide assortment of pipes, with diameters from 0.1 to 2500 mm and wall thickness from 0.01 to 150 mm.
We thus offer a large assortment of welded stainless steel pipes and an expansive number of technological possibilities for their production, to use in virtually all fields (medicine, stairs, railings, fences, decorations, heated towel rails, neutral equipment, metal structures). We can meet a relatively large number of standards and technical specifications regarding the qualitative characteristics of metal (content of carbon (C), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr); bending, unbending, expanding, welding properties). In global practice, the most commonly used are the USA (for example: API, ASTM A554), German (DIN 11850) and European (EN 10217, EN 10204, EN 10246 etc.) standards.
MV STEEL GROUP uses the following European standards for its manufactured stainless steel pipes (round, square and rectangular versions):
– Standard specifications. These specifications stipulate the grade and mechanical properties of stainless steel pipes: tensile strength, elongation (e.g., for AISI 201 16×1.5 it is 43%), hardness (for welded AISI 304 it ranges from 82 to 85 HRB), yield stress, etc.
– Gauge standards (provide a possible divergence for linear dimensions: diameter, wall thickness, length, curvature and mass).
– Marking regulations, packaging, transportation and storage. All products are packed in bundles by the number of pieces or by weight for the easy transportation and placement of stock.
– Standard test methods. Generalized tests for hardness, resilient modulus, micro and macrostructures, tests to determine the propensity for intercrystalline corrosion (ICC), as well as specific properties for round and shaped stainless steel tubes (bending, hydraulic pressure test, drop-weight test, expansion, stretching, ultrasonic inspection etc.).
Welded tubes (AISI 304L, 316L, 201, 430) have thinner walls and less deviation (less thickness variation: usually, permissible deviation corresponds to the wall thickness tolerance of the sheet used to make the pipe). As shown above, stainless steel supply is ensured according to a large number of special standards.
